Mixed Media Textile art workshop #2
In November 2020 I had the chance to welcome wonderful creatives from around the world to teach my mixed media textile art techniques. During six weeks, two online workshop where schedules in parallel : a Paris evening class for students from Europe and America and a Paris morning class for European morning birds & Australians.
Like the first online event in September, these classes have been a blast!
I’m amazed how much deeper we can dive into artistic approches in the live online format! During face to face classes a lot of energie goes into the making. The willingness of going home with a finished piece by the end of a 3 or 4 day event, often pushes students to work hard and experiment less! I noticed that there is less place for - what in my eyes is essential - understanding a technique, a concept, an idea and also finding how it fits in each students very personal and unique approach.
During the 2 to 2h30 online classes, students are concentrated listening, watching, taking notes and asking questions. We are discussing conception & design element, talk about inspiration, personal difficulties or preferences. All this enables each student to experiment the taught technique and intrgate them in their personal approach and style.
In between the online sessions, a private Facebook group allows to keep connected and this group is getting more and more a vibrant community! Former and current students share their work in progress, tips, adresses, give or get feedback.
It’s with a proud heart that I share the slideshow below! Find a small selection of the work made in the different techniques taught: mark making, digital drawing, transfer techniques, free motion embroidery, dyeing and painting felt and fabrics…
