Felt vessels for ikebana home decor
Lately I started a new edition of colorful felt vessels.
I began because I was looking for new ideas to teach my favorite textile art technique - wet felting - in beginner classes. Finally I found myself hooked by creating felted bowls in all colors and shapes.
It’s high fun to compose joyful home decor with felt vessels!
Not only do I love making them - I also love decorate my home with these joyful mini sculptures.
I made a bunch in blue (currently my favorite color!) and played around with all kind of shapes and sizez.
How to create ikebana in felt vessels
What I love most - is using these joyful containers for ikebana.
Ikebana is the Japanese art of floral arrangements.
What you need
flower frogs
recycled yogurt glasses /a small drinking glasses
water
felted vessels
optional: nice stones
For the flower arrangements shown in the photos I use recycled yogurt or small drinking glasses in which I put flower frogs pecked with flowers and fresh water.
The arrangements are inspired by the vessel shapes. In the same time, while composing, I had a lot of ideas for new vessels .
I love how inspiration works: always in a loop!
